This program provides financial assistance to small business and commercial property owners in Decatur, Georgia, to improve the exteriors of their buildings and enhance the community's aesthetic appeal.
Description
The Commercial Façade Improvement Grant (CFIG) program in Decatur, Georgia, supports small business and commercial property owners in enhancing the exterior of their buildings. Funded by the Decatur Development Authority (DDA), this program offers both larger grants and one-time micro-grants to help cover the costs of various façade improvements.
For 2024-2025, the DDA has allocated $100,000 for the program, with grants covering up to $10,000 for large projects on a 75/25 matching basis, reimbursing 75% of eligible expenses up to the cap while the applicant contributes the remaining 25%. Smaller, one-time micro-grants up to $1,000 are also available for minor improvements, such as graffiti removal, with an annual limit of 10 micro-grants to preserve funds for larger projects. Approved expenses are reimbursed after the project’s completion and approval by the DDA’s program review committee.
Eligible improvement activities include masonry repair, storefront reconstruction, exterior painting, window and door replacements, permanent lighting, signage, and repairs to elements like awnings, gutters, and outdoor seating areas. Projects must start within six months of grant approval and be completed within 18 months.
Applications for the Winter 2024 funding cycle open on October 23, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. and close on November 15, 2024, at 9:00 p.m. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements, and all applications will be reviewed for alignment with program goals. This grant cycle provides a valuable opportunity for local businesses to revitalize their storefronts, contributing to Decatur's economic and aesthetic vibrancy.
