Texas Capital Foundation

This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations that assist low- to moderate-income military and veteran families, as well as those focused on mental health, STEAM education, and youth mentorship in Texas.

Description

The Texas Capital Foundation Honors Awards program supports organizations addressing critical community needs through its philanthropic pillars: Live, Learn, Lift, and STAR. Grants of $50,000 are available in the categories of Live (mental health and chronic disease prevention for children), Learn (STEAM education for teens), and Lift (mentorship and prevention programs for youth). The STAR Award, valued at $100,000, is dedicated to supporting military and veteran families.

Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code and serve low- to moderate-income communities within the service areas of Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Applicants are required to have a minimum of three years of performance with their programs and must provide financial statements, a board member list, and an organization chart. Awardees are also obligated to submit an Impact Statement at the end of the grant year detailing their achievements and outcomes.

The application process begins on November 1, 2024, and ends on January 3, 2025. Twelve finalists will be announced on February 21, 2025, and will present their proposals to the foundation board on March 21, 2025, during a Pitch Day. Grant recipients will be announced on May 5, 2025.

Ineligible applicants include individuals, for-profit organizations, municipalities, and entities focused on political advocacy or controversial issues. Additionally, the program will not fund ticketed events like galas, luncheons, or golf tournaments or organizations that do not primarily address the needs of low- to moderate-income communities.

This program targets well-established organizations with a strong history of impactful programming aligned with the foundation’s mission. Applicants should ensure their initiatives fit the specified pillars and prepare thorough documentation to showcase their program’s success and sustainability.
