Project Grant for Organizations (PGO)
This program provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island for arts and culture projects that engage and benefit local communities.
Description
The Project Grant for Organizations (PGO) program provides grants of up to $3,000 to support arts and culture projects that are relevant and meaningful to a Rhode Island community or communities. This grant program is specifically designed for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or groups fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The program funds a broad range of cultural activities and projects that engage the Rhode Island community.
There are two application deadlines for the PGO program: April 1 and October 1. The April 1 deadline is for projects occurring between July 1 and June 30, while the October 1 deadline is for projects occurring between January 1 and June 30. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Projects funded by the PGO program can be one-time events or a series of connected activities with a defined beginning and end. The program intentionally has broad parameters to be responsive to community needs. Examples of funded programs include cultural festivals, art classes, and dance programs that engage underserved or historically marginalized communities.
To be eligible for this grant, organizations must be nonprofit organizations incorporated and conducting business in Rhode Island, with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Non-exempt Rhode Island-based organizations can also apply if they have a fiscal sponsor that meets the eligibility requirements. The maximum grant award is $3,000, but partial awards are common.
Overall, the PGO program provides an opportunity for nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island to receive funding for arts and culture projects that benefit the community.
