The Karma Foundation Grant
This grant provides financial support to non-profit organizations in New Jersey and beyond for various projects, operational needs, and capacity building, with a focus on enhancing community services and leveraging additional funding.
Description
This grant opportunity is open to local, national, and international organizations, with a focus on Middlesex, Union, and Mercer Counties in New Jersey. Non-profit organizations with 501(C)3 status are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $500 to $25,000, with the majority falling between $1,000 and $10,000. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and applicants will be notified of the decision within 90 days. The Foundation supports various categories including capacity building, capital needs, disaster relief, equipment and materials, operating expenses, special projects and programs, and start-ups. Organizations are encouraged to use these grants as leverage for other funding opportunities.
To begin the application process, organizations that have not been funded by The Karma Foundation before should complete a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) through their website. The LOI will be reviewed by the board within 2-4 weeks to determine if a full proposal is desired. Organizations that have received funding in the last two years can log into their account on the website without submitting a new LOI. It is recommended that organizations seeking assistance or clarification contact info@karmafoundation.org before starting the LOI/application process.
The Foundation does not fund organizations without 501(C)3 status or individuals/personal businesses directly. They also do not provide grants for litigation expenses or travel expenses for bands/sports teams. While there are no specific application deadlines, proposals are reviewed every 30 days. Funding may be provided for general operating expenses based on project needs. The average grant size is between $1,000 and $10,000. Budget information is required for both specific projects and overall organizational budgets. Proposals can only be submitted online through the Foundation's website. Applicants will receive notification of funding decisions within 2-4 weeks for LOIs and within 60 days for full proposals.
Site visits may be required for new applicants, and organizations are encouraged to offer site visits to showcase their activities. If
