Description
The Moonlight Mile Scholarship Fund, administered by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, provides matching funds to support women’s travel or equipment needs for study, athletic competition, professional training, or alternative healing. The scholarship aims to bridge the financial gap between a dream and reality by covering up to 50% of the total cost required for achieving a personal or professional goal.
This fund was established in memory of Deborah Reich, a competitive endurance equestrian who overcame scoliosis and later became a world-class athlete. The scholarship honors her resilience and determination, providing financial assistance to women who demonstrate a serious commitment to their sport, field of study, craft, or alternative healing pursuits.
Awards range from $500 to $1,200, with funds paid directly to the organization or vendor on behalf of the recipient. Applicants must be full-time residents of Massachusetts or New York, identify as women, and be at least 18 years old. Funding is awarded based on financial need, commitment to a chosen field, and the expected impact on personal or professional development.
The selection process involves a review committee, with final approval by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. The application deadline is March 15, 2025, and recipients will be selected based on merit and need.
