Snohomish County Historic Preservation Grant Program
This grant provides funding for projects that improve public access to Snohomish County's historical and archaeological heritage through education, professional development, and capital improvements.
Description
The Snohomish County Historic Preservation Commission is committed to preserving and celebrating the county's rich historical and archaeological heritage. Regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Snohomish County Administration Building East, located at 3000 Rockefeller Avenue, Everett, WA, or at other designated locations. The Commission is currently accepting applications for new members, inviting residents with a passion for history and preservation to join. Members benefit from opportunities to contribute to maintaining the local register of historic places, facilitating tax incentives for historic building rehabilitation, and supporting public education and professional development initiatives. The Commission also offers plaques for recognized historic structures and provides guidance from preservation professionals.
In addition, the Historic Preservation Grant Program will begin accepting applications for 2025 on November 18, 2024. These grants are designed to fund projects that enhance public access to Snohomish County's history through professional development, public education, capital improvements, or collections enhancement. Applications must be submitted by January 21, 2025, at 5 p.m., with late submissions not being considered. This program and the Commission’s broader initiatives play a vital role in safeguarding the county's irreplaceable historical assets while fostering community engagement and education.
