Forman Family Fund Grants
This funding opportunity supports Greater Philadelphia nonprofit organizations that provide arts education programs in photography, architectural drawing, or writing for youth aged 11 to 18.
Description
The Forman Family Fund Grants are provided through the Nessa Forman, David Forman, Eleanor, and Solomon Forman Family Fund, a designated fund managed by The Philadelphia Foundation. The Fund supports Greater Philadelphia nonprofit organizations that offer programs for youth aged 11 to 18 in both in-school and out-of-school settings. Programs must address at least one of the following focus areas: photography, architectural drawing and architecture, or the written arts.
The Fund was established through the estate of Nessa R. Forman, a former Vice President for Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at WHYY and the former Arts and Leisure Editor of the Philadelphia Bulletin. Nessa Forman was deeply committed to promoting arts education for youth, a passion reflected in the grant's focus.
Up to ten grants are awarded annually, with each grant capped at $40,000. Applications for the current cycle are now open, and all submissions must be received by May 19, 2025. Applications should be submitted online according to the Philadelphia Foundation's application process. Once submitted, a program officer may contact applicants for additional information or clarification.
Grant recipients are required to submit a one-page narrative report at the conclusion of their grant term. This report should detail how the funds were used and the impact the grant had on the organization’s ability to serve youth.
For questions, applicants are encouraged to contact the Philadelphia Foundation at grantmakingservices@philafound.org or by calling 215-563-6417.
