Literacy Enrichment Grant 2025

Ceiling: $1,000
Private
Children’s Literacy Foundation

This funding opportunity supports community organizations and schools in New Hampshire and Vermont to create engaging literacy projects that inspire children and their families to develop a love for reading and writing.

Description

The Literacy Enrichment Grant is provided by the Children's Literacy Foundation (CLiF) with the goal of promoting literacy through fun and engaging activities. The grant offers up to $1,000 in funding for project-oriented or experiential learning opportunities that aim to bring reading and writing to life. The primary purpose of this grant is to foster excitement about literacy, encourage alternative learning methods, and engage both children and their caregivers in activities that promote literacy. The grant seeks to inspire children to explore new things while enriching their lives with the joy of reading and writing.

The scope of the funding allows for a broad range of literacy-related projects, such as family literacy events, performances that tie into literacy themes, or projects that encourage creativity in writing and reading. Examples of eligible projects include afterschool book clubs, school partnerships with libraries, writing workshops, self-publishing projects, and youth programming during school vacations. Activities funded through this grant should directly connect to literacy and must be completed by June 30, 2025.

Eligible applicants include community or nonprofit organizations, youth-serving programs, libraries, childcare or early education centers, and schools located in New Hampshire or Vermont. The grant is open to organizations that serve children from birth to age 12, with at least 35% of children benefiting from free or reduced lunch or similar assistance. Applicants must also have a coordinator who can collaborate with CLiF to plan and organize the project. Additionally, the program must involve a minimum of 30 children, whether virtually or in person.

Applications for the Literacy Enrichment Grant must be submitted by March 1, 2025. The grant is designed to encourage creativity, and all proposed activities must align with literacy goals and foster engagement in reading and writing. While the deadline for applications is fixed, there are no indications of a rolling application process. Successful applicants can expect their projects to help children develop a lasting appreciation for reading and writing.

The Children's Literacy Foundation, which has served over 350,000 children since its founding in 1998, encourages creative and innovative project proposals. They are particularly focused on projects that directly involve children and their families and aim to create a lasting impact on their literacy journey. The foundation provides support in the form of funding and guidance to ensure the success of the selected programs.

Interested applicants can reach CLiF for further information via email at info@clifonline.org or by phone at 802-244-0944. The Literacy Enrichment Grant is a part of CLiF's broader mission to increase literacy rates and provide meaningful learning experiences for children across New Hampshire and Vermont.
