Michigan Shared Streets and Spaces Grant Program (SSSG)
Description
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Shared Streets and Spaces Grant (SSSG) program, part of the FY 2024 budget, offers $3.5 million to support quick-build projects aimed at making communities more walkable, bikeable, and transit- and micromobility-friendly. Grants of up to $200,000 are available with no local match requirement. Eligible applicants include incorporated cities and public transit agencies. Projects should align with MDOT's State Long-Range Transportation Plan (Michigan Mobility 2045) and focus on public health, safe mobility, and strengthened commerce. The application period opens on April 12, 2024, with a deadline of June 7, 2024. Successful projects must demonstrate community engagement, ownership of proposed infrastructure, and the ability to execute by September 30, 2027.
