2024 MICHIGAN DIESEL EMISSION REDUCTION PROGRAM
This grant provides funding to local governments and private entities in Michigan to replace old diesel vehicles and equipment with all-electric alternatives, promoting cleaner air and sustainable practices.
Description
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is offering grants aimed at reducing diesel emissions through the replacement of old vehicles, engines, and equipment with all-electric alternatives. The program focuses on local government fleets, recycling vehicles, compost and food waste recovery vehicles, agriculture, and irrigation equipment. Both public and private entities are eligible to apply. The grants support the MI Healthy Climate Plan and Michigan's decarbonization goals, fostering partnerships for innovation and promoting healthy communities, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. The grant period starts upon full execution of the grant agreement and ends on August 31, 2026.
In FY 2024, EGLE aims to support sustainable mobility and clean transportation options across Michigan. The funding will help reduce diesel emissions, increase recycling rates, reduce landfill food waste, improve water conservation, and promote local adoption of electric equipment. Applicants must outline how their projects will achieve significant diesel emission reductions, benefiting specified areas and populations. The program emphasizes innovation, zero emission technologies, and partnerships to enhance diesel emission reduction efforts.
