FY25 Cure the Streets Grant Program

Ceiling: $814,000
State
Office of the Attorney General, Washington D.C.

This program provides funding to community organizations for employing local individuals to prevent gun violence and promote peace in neighborhoods affected by high rates of violence.

Description

The Cure the Streets (CTS) program, initiated in response to rising homicides, aims to reduce gun violence in targeted neighborhoods by treating it as a disease that can be interrupted, treated, and stopped from spreading. The program employs local, credible individuals who work as Violence Interrupters and Outreach Workers to detect and resolve conflicts, counsel high-risk individuals, and change community norms regarding violence. CTS has expanded to 10 sites and follows the Cure Violence Global model, which has successfully reduced shootings and homicides in various locations worldwide.
