Larimer OEM Community Mitigation Grant Program
This program provides financial support for community-led projects in Larimer County that aim to reduce disaster risks and enhance resilience against hazards.
The Larimer County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) administers the Community Mitigation Grant Program, aimed at funding community-led hazard mitigation projects. Since 1965, Larimer County has experienced the highest number of federally declared disasters in Colorado. The program was established in 2022 to support community efforts in mitigating disaster risks by providing financial assistance to groups that may struggle with the upfront costs of mitigation projects. The goal is to enhance community resilience by reducing risk, protecting lives, preventing property loss, and minimizing disruption to daily life.
The 2025 grant cycle opened on January 13, 2025, and will close at 11:59 PM on March 9, 2025. Following the submission period, intent to award notices will be sent out, and final awards will be announced on or before May 1, 2025. The grant performance period will end on November 3, 2025, with final project reports and all substantiating documentation due by 11:59 PM on November 2, 2025. An informational webinar was held on January 30, 2025, to assist applicants in understanding the grant process, and the presentation slides and a webinar recording are available.
Eligible applicants include community groups, local nonprofit organizations, and charitable foundations, with priority given to small grassroots or community groups over larger nonprofits. The program does not fund food and beverages, staff salaries, project planning expenses, or roadwork, except for roadside thinning or slash pile chipping.
Applications must be submitted through an online form, and applicants are encouraged to save their responses separately in case of technical issues. The program is administered in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and reasonable accommodations can be requested by contacting the Larimer County accessibility office.
For further inquiries, applicants can contact Larimer County at (970) 498-7000 or visit their offices at 200 W. Oak Street, Fort Collins, CO 80521. Additional details on previous awardees and grant administration can be found on the Larimer County website.
