Description
The Walter Johnson Trust, managed by the Community Foundation of Greenville, provides grants to support staff development for social service agencies serving Greenville County residents. These grants aim to enhance the capacity and internal stability of organizations through training and professional development. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agencies, and each organization may submit only one application per year.
Applications for the 2025 grant cycle open on January 1, 2025, and close on January 31, 2025. Grant awards typically range from $500 to $2,500, and recipients will be notified by the end of February 2025. Proposals should focus on specific training programs that occur at established times and dates, whether conducted in-house or by external providers. Examples of eligible activities include staff seminars or training initiatives that strengthen the organization’s capacity to deliver services.
The application review process involves an evaluation by the Foundation’s President and Director of Community Impact – Grants and Scholarships, who will make recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Board has the final authority to approve or deny grant requests. Recipients are required to submit a report within 30 days after completing the funded training, detailing its outcomes and benefits.
