TSET Discovery Grants
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations, public entities, tribal nations, and educational institutions in Oklahoma to develop innovative health and wellness initiatives targeting tobacco prevention, obesity reduction, and healthcare improvements for children and seniors.
Description
The TSET Discovery Grants aim to support innovative solutions that address unique challenges and barriers in health and wellness across Oklahoma. These grants target initiatives aligned with TSET’s Constitutional areas of focus, including tobacco prevention and cessation for high-risk groups, programs that improve the health of Oklahomans, healthcare service enhancements for children, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of senior adults. Projects must address either large populations with strategies to prevent tobacco use or obesity or focus on populations with the highest rates of tobacco use and obesity, regardless of size.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, public entities, tribal nations, and educational institutions with a physical office in Oklahoma. Organizations must not receive funds or benefit from the sale of tobacco products. Applicants are required to adopt a tobacco-free policy for all properties, implement a worksite wellness policy, and remain in good standing with the Oklahoma Secretary of State. For projects involving multiple partners, the lead organization must act as the primary contractor and fiscal agent.
The grant provides up to $250,000 annually, renewable for up to three years based on performance, funding availability, and approval by the TSET Board of Directors. All funding is provided on a reimbursement basis, meaning organizations must initially cover expenses and submit appropriate documentation for reimbursement. It is important to note that infrastructure projects are not eligible for funding under this program.
The timeline for the grant includes the launch of the funding opportunity on November 19, 2024, with questions due by December 20, 2024. Completed applications must be submitted by February 12, 2025, and the TSET Board will decide on awards in May 2025, with notifications sent to applicants later that month. Approved projects will commence on September 1, 2025.
Applications must be submitted via the TSET Funding Portal, where additional resources, including the Request for Application (RFA) and tutorial videos, are available. Interested applicants are encouraged to download the RFA and thoroughly review the requirements and submission process. Projects should clearly align with TSET’s mission to address significant health concerns in Oklahoma through creative and impactful approaches.
