Description
The "Fair Housing Initiatives Program Education and Outreach Initiative (FR-6800-N-21-A)" NOFO from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) invites applications from eligible non-profits and other fair housing organizations to carry out education and outreach activities under the Fair Housing Act (FHA). It provides funding through five components:
1. National Media Campaign Component (EOI-NMC): This component supports a media campaign advancing racial equity and access to housing opportunities, focusing on underserved communities. Applicants must have significant experience in advertising and media services.
2. Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Component (EOI-SOGI): Funds are allocated for creating or updating materials related to FHA protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Applicants must have a referral process to HUD for complaints.
3. Advancing Racial Equity Component (EOI-ARE): This component focuses on education projects promoting racial desegregation and equity in housing, especially addressing barriers to fair housing in underserved communities.
4. General Component (EOI-G): Funds general fair housing education and outreach, including activities to inform people of their rights and responsibilities under the FHA, targeting diverse forms of housing discrimination such as antisemitism and Islamophobia.
5. Targeted Fair Housing Component (EOI-TFH): Supports organizations working directly with people with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) to ensure they understand their fair housing rights.
The total funding available is approximately $8,350,000, with awards ranging from $75,000 to $1,300,000 for a project period of 12-18 months. Eligible applicants include Qualified Fair Housing Enforcement Organizations, Fair Housing Enforcement Organizations, agencies that participate in the Fair Housing Assistance Program, and other public or private entities dedicated to preventing housing discrimination.
