2025 Small and Accessible Sustainability Grant

Description
The 2025 Small and Accessible Sustainability Grant, offered by the DC Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE), provides a funding opportunity aimed at supporting the District’s goals around sustainability, zero waste, and urban agriculture. The total available funding for this grant is $190,000, which will be distributed to one grantee responsible for administering subgrants to eligible local projects.
The grantee will use the funds to support small-scale initiatives that align with the missions of DOEE’s Office of Urban Agriculture and the Donation and Reuse Program (Reuse DC). These subgrant projects should demonstrate impact in areas such as sustainable food systems, materials reuse, community education on sustainability practices, or reduction of food and material waste.
The grant is open to a broad range of applicants, including:
Nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4))
Faith-based organizations
Government agencies
Universities and educational institutions
Private enterprises
Applications must be submitted through DOEE’s Grants Application Portal and must be timestamped no later than 11:59 p.m. on May 30, 2025. Late applications will not be considered.
A pre-application meeting will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. via WebEx. All interested applicants are encouraged to attend to receive an overview of the program and submission instructions.
