Description
The Hall Family Foundation is a private philanthropic organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of human life in the Greater Kansas City area. They support projects and organizations that align with their vision, mission, values, donor intent, and strategic priorities. They seek to fund projects that engage with the community they serve in sustainable program design, improve racial equity and quality of life for individuals historically denied equal social and economic opportunities, track and measure outcomes and impact, focus on systemic improvement, leverage resources across sectors, are led by inclusive and effective leadership/staff committed to and respectful of the community being served, and remain informed and directed by data and feedback from relevant stakeholders.
The Foundation does not fund organizations outside the greater Kansas City area. They also do not fund political parties or activities, individuals, international organizations, religious organizations where the primary purpose is promotion of specific religious doctrine, endowments, scholarly research, past operating deficits or debt reduction, event promotion (such as golf tournaments or walk-a-thons), travel or conference expenses, or groups classified as 509(a)(3) supporting organizations.
Grant recipients may be asked to make periodic written progress reports on grant outcomes. The Foundation may also monitor grants through telephone calls, correspondence, and/or site visits. Recipients are expected to submit a written report describing the outcomes and use of funds at the conclusion of the grant. Recipients must ensure that grant funds are used for charitable purposes indicated in the grant request unless otherwise authorized by the Foundation. Grant funds should not be used to influence elections or legislation. The recipient is responsible for maintaining tax-exempt status as a public charity throughout the grant period.
To apply for funding from the Hall Family Foundation, organizations can use an interest form available on their website. There are no specific request deadlines as requests are accepted year-round. The approval process takes place quarterly during board meetings. The Foundation typically does not provide operating support grants but prefers investments in capital projects and programs that enrich the community. Grants vary in size based on the program
