Description
The United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County (UWOLC) offers grant funding for programs and community coalitions within Lafayette County, Mississippi, that focus on improving health, advancing education, promoting financial stability, and addressing basic needs. The funding opportunity is part of the UWOLC's fiscal year 2025-2026 cycle, which specifically seeks projects that align with these priority areas. The grant is open to nonprofit organizations, including 501(c)(3) entities, libraries, schools, and universities that operate programs serving these needs. For-profit businesses, as well as organizations that are controversial or political in nature, or those benefiting animals, are not eligible for funding.
The application process is two-fold. Step 1 is the Primary Fiscal Agent Pre-Application, which must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on March 3, 2025. This step requires organizations to submit basic details about their operations, including their mission statement, management structure, board roster, and financial documentation such as an annual budget, balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and Form 990. It is important to note that only one pre-application is needed, even if an organization plans to apply for multiple programs.
Step 2 involves submitting a Program Grant Application, which has a deadline of 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2025. The Program Grant Application is required for each specific program for which funding is requested. The application must outline how the proposed program addresses the focus areas of health, education, financial stability, and basic needs. Additionally, applicants must provide details about the community need, program goals, expected outcomes, and how the program’s performance will be measured. The narrative should explain why the program is necessary, how it will achieve its goals efficiently, and how grant funds will be used strictly within Lafayette County.
To assist applicants, UWOLC will hold an application workshop on February 12, 2025, via Zoom. This workshop will guide prospective applicants on developing a strong proposal and provide insight into the application review process. Organizations interested in attending the workshop should email Kurt Brummett at kurt@unitedwayoxfordms.org for Zoom meeting information.
