2025 Community Garden Grants
This funding opportunity supports community gardens in metro Atlanta by providing financial assistance for infrastructure improvements and larger projects that promote sustainable food growing and community engagement.
Description
The 2025 Community Garden Grants, offered by Food Well, aim to support community gardens in metro Atlanta by providing $110,000 in funding across two grant categories. These grants help community gardens thrive by addressing infrastructure, supplies, materials, and larger project needs that contribute to sustainable and resilient green spaces where communities can grow food, share knowledge, and foster connections.
The first grant category, the Garden Improvement Grant, provides $1,500 to address specific infrastructure, supply, and material needs for 60 community gardens. The second category, the Garden Forward Grant, is a $10,000 grant designed for two community gardens to undertake larger projects that will significantly enhance their space. Additionally, Food Well offers labor support funding for projects requiring specialized contractors, such as irrigation or shed installations. This funding is available separately from the grants and can be combined to help with project implementation.
Eligible applicants must be community gardens; K-12 school gardens are not eligible. Gardens can apply for both grant categories but can only receive funding from one. Applications are open from October 15, 2024, to November 15, 2024, with grant funds being disbursed in January or February 2025, allowing recipients to prepare for the spring planting season. First-time applicants are welcome, and all applications must be submitted through the online grant management system.
To assist with the application process, a Q&A webinar will be held on November 1, 2024, led by the Grants & Resources Manager.
