Guided by principles of civil and political rights and a safe, healthy environment, the Morton K. and Jane Blaustein Foundation supports initiatives confronting racism, protecting immigrants and refugees, and mitigating climate change, particularly for communities of color and low-income populations. The foundation focuses on building alliances for equitable climate policies and grassroots organizing. Geographic priorities include Baltimore City, Maryland, the DC region, and New York. Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status. Applicants are encouraged to contact a Program Officer before submitting a Letter of Inquiry or Proposal. To expose and challenge institutionalized racism and to ensure equal and fair treatment for all, the Foundation supports:
Strategic advocacy and policy reform efforts to end racial inequities in the justice system
Programs focused on changing the culture of punishment and criminalization of youth in schools, practices which disproportionately affect students of color
