City of Mankato Special Event Support Grant
This grant provides financial support to local nonprofits and organizing committees in Mankato to create or sustain community events that benefit the local economy and are open to the public.
Description
The Special Event Support Grant from the City of Mankato offers up to $2,000 to assist local nonprofits or organizing committees with nonprofit sponsorship in initiating or maintaining community events that promote the city and provide significant economic benefits. Eligible events must be open to the public, have broad-based economic impact beyond a single sector, and distribute proceeds back to the community rather than using them for operational costs or fundraising. Events must occur in public or city-owned spaces and go beyond the organization’s typical activities.
Funding may be used for specific costs, including special event staffing, setup and takedown labor, police services, and fire services. However, the grant does not cover deficits from previous events, applications from governmental agencies, individuals or organizations outside Mankato, or incomplete or late applications.
Applications are due by December 6, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. and should be submitted electronically to rkopischke@mankatomn.gov. Reviews will be conducted by a six-member panel, with recommendations sent to the City Council for final approval in January 2025. Notifications will be sent to recipients by February 2025. Successful applicants will need to complete any required permits or facility applications if using city spaces. For further information, contact City Clerk Renae Kopischke at rkopischke@mankatomn.gov or 507-387-8690.
