Pediatric Mobile Immunization Clinics RFA
This funding opportunity provides financial support for organizations to establish mobile clinics that deliver free childhood vaccinations to underserved communities in King County, Washington, particularly targeting uninsured and underinsured families.
Description
The Pediatric Mobile Immunization Clinics Request for Applications (RFA) is a funding opportunity provided by Best Starts for Kids to increase access to routine childhood vaccinations in King County, Washington. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted access to routine immunizations, leading to a decline in vaccination rates. This funding seeks to support mobile immunization clinics that will provide low-barrier, no-cost vaccinations to children, family members, and caregivers in underserved communities. The grant will fund efforts to reach uninsured and underinsured individuals, low-income populations, and Black/African American and Indigenous communities who face structural barriers to healthcare access, including language, transportation, technology, and fear of deportation.
The selected applicant(s) will be expected to operate mobile clinics in partnership with schools, childcare providers, and community- and faith-based organizations. The most competitive applicants will host a minimum of 25 clinics annually, with the goal of reaching at least 1,200 children per contract year. The contract period runs from April 2025 through December 2027. During the first contract year (April–December 2025), the grantee(s) must host a minimum of 18 clinics and serve at least 900 children. In the second and third years (2026 and 2027), the expectation is 25 clinics per year, serving a minimum of 1,200 children annually.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations, for-profit entities, and public or governmental agencies that serve King County communities. Organizations must be enrolled in the Washington State Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP) and in good standing. Preference will be given to applicants with experience hosting mobile vaccination clinics, particularly those that provide routine childhood immunizations. Applicants must demonstrate a successful history of working with schools, childcare providers, and community organizations, as well as serving uninsured and underinsured populations and other vulnerable groups.
The total available funding for this opportunity is $200,000 per year from April 2025 to December 2027. Applicants should not request more than $200,000 per year.
