Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science (CUAHSI)

This fellowship provides funding for graduate students in hydrology and related fields to conduct interdisciplinary research and comparative studies by traveling to additional field sites or collaborating with other research groups.

Description

The Pathfinder Graduate Student Fellowship, administered by the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI), supports graduate students in hydrology and related sciences to broaden the scope of their research. This program funds extended travel to additional field sites or collaborations with other research groups, allowing students to conduct comparative studies or add interdisciplinary dimensions to their projects. The fellowship aims to enrich graduate training in water science by moving beyond single-site or singular analytical approaches.

Each fellowship provides up to $5,000 to cover travel expenses. Applicants must submit their materials by February 7, 2025. The application package includes a 2-page CV, a research statement of 3–5 pages detailing the proposed research and including a Data Management Plan, a one-page budget with justification for expenses, and letters of commitment from both the applicant’s advisor and the proposed host institution or collaborator. Submissions are completed online via Proposal Space, where applicants can save their progress and ensure all materials are finalized by the deadline.

The fellowship is ideal for projects requiring interdisciplinary collaboration, comparative field studies, or partnerships with new research groups to extend the impact of ongoing studies. The Data Management Plan included in the research statement should describe strategies for obtaining, storing, and disseminating data products resulting from the fellowship.

For additional information or assistance, applicants can contact Veronica Sosa Gonzalez at vgonzalez@cuahsi.org. The Pathfinder Fellowship provides graduate students with the opportunity to enhance their research capabilities, gain valuable experience, and expand their professional networks in hydrology and related sciences.
