The Lyme Foundation Grants
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Lyme, New Hampshire, to support community initiatives that improve quality of life and encourage volunteerism.
Description
The Lyme Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Lyme, New Hampshire. The Foundation’s grants support initiatives that address specific community needs, encourage volunteerism, benefit a broad constituency, and foster innovative programs and services. While all applications are considered, priority is given to projects where a relatively small grant can yield significant impact. The Foundation particularly encourages partnerships with other granting organizations for requests exceeding $5,000.
Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with reviews conducted monthly. If an application is received by the 15th of the month, decisions are typically made by the following month. Applications are evaluated based on a variety of criteria, including their alignment with town needs, safety considerations, leadership involvement, and whether the project serves an underserved group. Proposals that require town meeting approval or could be funded through municipal budgets are generally ineligible.
Applicants must submit a detailed application that includes a project description, expected start and completion dates, a comprehensive budget, and the amount requested. Any excess funds not used for the awarded project must be returned to the Foundation to maintain compliance with its 501(c)(3) charitable obligations. Applications can be submitted online, via email, or by U.S. mail to the Lyme Foundation’s mailing address.
Once received, applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee, which provides recommendations to the full Board. The Board meets monthly to vote on funding decisions. Applicants may be contacted for additional information or to meet with the committee during the review process. Successful applicants will be notified following the Board’s decision, and specific arrangements will be made for fund disbursement.
Grant recipients are expected to acknowledge the Lyme Foundation in public announcements, promotional materials, or publications related to their funded project. Additionally, recipients must submit a final report within a year of the grant’s completion, or interim reports if the project extends beyond one year. The Foundation reserves the right to include grant recipient details in its future materials.
