Historic Preservation Education Grant 2025
This funding opportunity supports organizations and individuals in Indiana to create educational programs that promote awareness and appreciation of historic preservation through various innovative formats.
Description
The Historic Preservation Education Grant provides funding for public programs that educate Indiana residents about historic places, properties, and the need for preservation. Administered by Indiana Humanities, this grant supports a wide range of educational formats, including workshops, presentations, booklets, brochures, reading and discussion programs, exhibitions, film documentaries, and digital projects such as webinars, podcasts, and online exhibits. The program aims to expand outreach and deepen public understanding of historic preservation's significance.
The grant offers up to $3,000 per awarded project. Two funding rounds are available annually, with application deadlines on February 28, 2025 (Round 1) and September 30, 2025 (Round 2). Successful applicants will be notified approximately one month after each deadline. Projects funded in Round 1 can begin on April 15, 2025, while those in Round 2 can start on November 15, 2025. All projects must be completed within one year of the notification date.
Eligible applicants include organizations and individuals within Indiana that focus on public education related to historic preservation. The program is particularly interested in innovative projects that leverage digital formats to enhance engagement and accessibility. The funding is intended to support the production and dissemination of educational materials that raise awareness about the value of historic sites and encourage their protection.
Applicants must submit their proposals using the online application portal provided by Indiana Humanities. Resources such as a call for proposals document, budget template, and online application instructions are available to guide applicants through the process. Funding decisions will be based on the project's educational impact, feasibility, and alignment with the program’s goals.
The Indiana Landmarks and the National Endowment for the Humanities are key partners and funders of this grant. Interested applicants with questions about the grant process can contact George Hanlin, Director of Grants, at grants@indianahumanities.org or call 317-616-9784.
