Computer Science for All
This funding opportunity provides financial support to U.S. educational institutions and nonprofit organizations to enhance computer science and computational thinking education in preK-12 schools nationwide.
Description
The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) funding opportunity 24-555, "Computer Science for All," seeks to expand access to computer science (CS) and computational thinking (CT) education across U.S. preK-12 schools. This initiative supports both research and research-practice partnerships (RPPs) to drive the development and implementation of CS and CT curricula nationwide. The program aims to equip high school teachers with the necessary training, professional development, and support to deliver rigorous CS courses. It also focuses on providing preK-8 educators with resources and instructional materials to integrate CS and CT into a wide range of subjects and teaching styles.
With a total program funding of $20 million, individual awards can go up to $2 million, though no minimum award amount is specified. Eligible applicants include accredited U.S.-based institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations directly associated with educational or research activities (e.g., museums, observatories, research labs, and professional societies), and recognized Tribal Nations. International branches of U.S. institutions may participate if they justify the need for activities to be conducted abroad.
This funding opportunity is intended to support school and district-level initiatives to design and assess CS and CT pathways across multiple grade levels. The closing date for applications is February 12, 2025, with a publication archive date of March 15, 2030. Further details, including specific project guidelines, are available on the NSF website.
