2025 Brooklyn Arts Fund
This funding opportunity supports Brooklyn-based artists, collectives, and nonprofits in creating community arts projects across various disciplines, enhancing cultural experiences for local residents.
Description
The Brooklyn Arts Fund (BAF) and Local Arts Support (LAS) grants for 2025 offer funding for community arts projects in Brooklyn. Both programs, managed by the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), aim to support local artists, arts organizations, and cultural initiatives.
The Brooklyn Arts Fund (BAF) provides grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 for community-driven projects in various art forms such as dance, music, theater, film, and visual arts. The funding supports exhibitions, performances, workshops, festivals, and other cultural events that enhance the creative experiences of Brooklyn residents. Applicants must be Brooklyn-based individuals, collectives, or nonprofits. All projects must take place within the 2025 calendar year, and BAF cannot be the sole funder, requiring at least 10% of the project budget to come from other sources.
The Local Arts Support (LAS) program also offers $2,500 to $5,000 in grants, but it specifically supports nonprofit organizations and artist-nonprofit collaborations. LAS grants fund arts programming that focuses on community engagement. Nonprofits, or individual artists partnering with a nonprofit, are eligible, and virtual programming is allowed. There is no budget match requirement for LAS, and funds primarily support personnel costs, with up to $1,000 allocated for materials and supplies.
Applications for both programs must be submitted by November 8, 2024, through BAC's online system. Required materials include a project narrative, budget, work samples, and proof of residency or nonprofit status. Grantees must complete their projects within the 2025 calendar year and submit a final report by January 15, 2026.
For further assistance, applicants are encouraged to attend BAC information sessions or contact the council directly.
