The Northampton Open Media (NOM) Multimedia Arts Grant for 2024 supports multimedia artists in Northampton, MA, and the surrounding region by providing financial assistance for creative production projects. The goal is to help artists achieve specific objectives and enhance their skills through multimedia storytelling and artistic creation.
Key Information:
Grant Amount: Up to $2,000 per project.
Application Deadline: Extended to October 27, 2024, by 11:59 PM.
Selection Announcement: November 2024.
Project Completion Deadline: December 31, 2025.
Eligibility:
Youth Projects: NOM aims to fund at least one grant for a youth applicant (18 years or younger).
BIPOC Applicants: NOM also aims to fund at least one grant for a self-identified BIPOC artist.
Project Scope:
There are no specific categories for grant applications. Examples of eligible projects include:
Short films (narrative, experimental, documentary).
Public art projects with multimedia components.
XR projects (virtual reality, augmented reality).
Multimedia-enhanced theater.
Audio projects (podcasts, audio art).
Games or apps incorporating multimedia elements.
Application Requirements:
Applicants can submit their proposals in written, video, or audio formats and are encouraged to include:
A detailed project pitch, including process, budget, and timeline.
Supplementary materials (e.g., past work samples, scripts, commitment letters for documentaries).
Community Connection:
Applicants must demonstrate a connection to Northampton, MA, such as living, working, or attending school there, or producing or performing the project in Northampton.
Important Notes:
NOM will not fund projects or events completed before applying, finishing grants (post-production for completed work), or equipment already available through NOM.
Conflict of Interest: NOM staff, board members, and their close relatives are ineligible for grants.
