The Doctors Company Foundation

This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations for innovative projects that enhance patient safety and healthcare outcomes, with a focus on measurable results and potential for widespread impact in the healthcare community.

Description

The Doctors Company Foundation provides funding to nonprofit entities to support innovative approaches that improve patient safety and healthcare outcomes. The foundation seeks projects that demonstrate measurable patient and clinician outcomes and have the potential for widespread dissemination within the healthcare community. It does not provide funding to for-profit organizations but allows collaborations between for-profit entities and nonprofit organizations or educational institutions.

The 2025 grant cycle follows a structured application process beginning with the submission of a Letter of Intent (LOI). The grant cycle opens on February 12, 2025, and LOIs are accepted until the close of business on March 19, 2025. LOIs are evaluated by the foundation, and applicants may be contacted for clarifications or revisions. By May 19, 2025, applicants will receive an email notification either inviting them to submit a full proposal or informing them that their project was not selected for further consideration. Submission of an LOI does not guarantee funding.

Organizations invited to submit a full proposal will receive an application form outlining specific requirements. Full proposals, along with all necessary supporting documentation, must be submitted by the close of business on June 23, 2025. The foundation’s Grant Review Committee will evaluate proposals, and final funding decisions will be made by the Board of Directors in late August 2025. Successful applicants must fully execute grant agreements before funding is disbursed, typically by mid-October.

The foundation funds projects at various levels, with past grants ranging from $25,000 to $240,000 and an average award of $103,000. Partial funding may be awarded depending on the scope and quality of the proposal. The grant application process is highly competitive, and due to limited funds, not all high-quality proposals receive funding.

Funded grants require periodic progress reports and a final evaluation report. Extensions and budget modifications are permitted with prior approval from the foundation. Organizations that were not invited to submit a full proposal cannot resubmit the same LOI in the following year. However, if a full proposal was submitted but not funded, the organization may reapply in the next grant cycle with a new LOI.

For additional information, applicants are encouraged to review the full grant eligibility criteria before reaching out with questions. The foundation does not provide individual feedback on declined proposals. Requests for project extensions or budget adjustments must be submitted via email for approval.
