Growing Greener Plus Grants Program
This program provides funding to various organizations in Pennsylvania for projects that restore and protect waterways by reducing pollution from sources like abandoned mines, urban runoff, and agricultural practices.
Description
The Growing Greener Plus Grants Program 2024 aims to address nonpoint source pollution in Pennsylvania's waterways through watershed restoration and protection efforts. The program supports projects that reduce pollution from abandoned mine drainage, urban and agricultural runoff, atmospheric deposition, on-lot sewage systems, earthmoving, stream hydromodification, and timber harvesting. Eligible applicants include watershed associations, counties, municipalities, conservation districts, councils of governments, educational institutions, and other authorized organizations. Applications are open from April 22, 2024, to June 21, 2024, with awards announced in late 2024. Projects must be completed within three years from the contract execution date. The program prioritizes projects that support climate resiliency, habitat improvement, and watershed-based plan implementation. DEP lowered the match requirement. For projects in Pennsylvania’s Environmental Justice Areas, there is no match and for other project locations, there is 5% match.
Applicants must use a competitive process to obtain the lowest qualified bid for subcontractors.
