Youth Service America (YSA)

This grant provides funding for youth-led projects that tackle childhood hunger in the U.S., encouraging young people aged 5 to 25 to engage their peers in meaningful service and advocacy activities.

Description

The 15th Annual Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Youth Grants, organized by Youth Service America (YSA), provide $500 in funding for youth-led projects aimed at combating childhood hunger in the United States. These grants are open to youth ages 5 to 25 who design and lead projects involving at least 50 youth volunteers in direct service, advocacy, awareness, or philanthropic activities. Projects must occur during the Sodexo Servathon, from April 1 to May 31, 2025, and are encouraged to include activities during Youth Service Month (April 11 – May 11, 2025) or Global Youth Service Day (April 25-27, 2025). Applications are due by 11:59 PM local time on January 26, 2025.

Eligible projects must address childhood hunger in local communities and be entirely youth-led. They may take place in schools, universities, afterschool programs, youth organizations, nonprofits, or faith-based organizations. The grants prioritize initiatives that include youth from underserved communities or those not typically asked to serve, such as youth with disabilities or those struggling academically. Additionally, projects with sustainability components or long-term solutions to hunger are highly encouraged, especially those involving diverse community stakeholders, including Sodexo employees and leaders.

Applicants must reside in the United States, and all project activities must benefit children and families within the country. Youth changemakers are encouraged to use resources and planning toolkits provided by YSA, including guides tailored to specific age groups. These resources are designed to help applicants develop impactful, well-organized projects.

The application process is streamlined, and applicants who previously submitted ideas for a Youth Stop Hunger Innovation Grant do not need to reapply. For support during the application process, YSA offers a comprehensive FAQ and direct assistance from Katie Reusch, the grant administrator, who can be contacted at Katie@YSA.org.

This grant program highlights the importance of addressing the increasing rate of childhood hunger in the United States, currently affecting 19.2% of children. Through these grants, YSA and Sodexo aim to empower young people to make meaningful contributions to their communities while fostering broader awareness and collaboration to end food insecurity.
