Description

The Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) has announced the call for nominations for the 2025 Louisiana Young Heroes program, which recognizes outstanding young people in Louisiana. The program is designed to honor students who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in various areas, including academics, public service, overcoming personal challenges, heroism, and inspiring others to be better students, citizens, and people. The award emphasizes qualities such as strength of character, dedication to service, and the ability to lead by example.

The nominations are open for students in grades 9 through 12, who are enrolled in academic institutions or homeschool programs in Louisiana. Nominees must be under 18 years old. Additionally, previous recipients of the Young Heroes award are not eligible for re-nomination. This recognition seeks to celebrate the impact of these young individuals on their communities and highlight their potential to inspire others.

Submissions for nominations must be made online, and the deadline for submitting entries is set for Sunday, March 2, 2025. The nomination form includes specific questions that must be answered to provide details about the nominee's achievements. Nominations must reflect the excellence of the individual, showcasing how they have made a difference through their actions, be it in their academic pursuits or personal contributions to society.

Awardees will be recognized in a variety of ways, including through special awards and acknowledgments for their contributions. The honorees will be announced during LPB’s weekly news and public affairs program "Louisiana: The State We’re In," and their names will also be featured on LPB’s Louisiana Young Heroes Facebook page and website in the spring of 2025. This exposure is intended to honor the recipients publicly and allow the community to celebrate their accomplishments.

The Louisiana Young Heroes program is part of LPB’s ongoing commitment to support youth in Louisiana and to provide a platform to acknowledge their outstanding contributions. It serves as an inspiration for other young individuals in the state, aiming to foster a culture of civic responsibility, academic excellence, and personal growth. Through this initiative, LPB encourages students to strive for greatness and make a lasting impact on their communities.
