On-Farm Efficiency Grant 2025
This program provides financial support to Central Oregon farmers and ranchers for infrastructure improvements and professional development to promote sustainable farming practices.
Description
The On-Farm Efficiency Grant, offered by the High Desert Food and Farm Alliance (HDFFA), provides financial support to Central Oregon farmers and ranchers to improve their operations through infrastructure upgrades, supplies, and professional development. The program is designed to help producers overcome operational challenges and foster sustainable farming practices. Applications are open from December 2, 2024, to January 10, 2025, with funds required to be spent by July 1, 2025 and final reports due by July 31, 2025.
Eligible applicants can receive up to $3,000 in grant funds, with a required 50% match that can be met through cash contributions or in-kind support such as labor or project-related purchases. Examples of eligible projects include irrigation upgrades, fencing, high tunnels, cold storage, pollinator habitats, and professional development such as technical assistance or soil and water testing. Funds cannot be used for land acquisition, marketing, or certifications.
To qualify, farms or ranches must be operational businesses located in Central Oregon, including Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties, or within the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. They must primarily grow, raise, and sell products in the region and demonstrate sustainable practices, including responsible use of inputs and conservation of natural resources. Additionally, awardees must participate in at least one agriculture-related workshop or course between December 2024 and July 2025 and attend pre- and post-grant webinars to discuss reporting requirements and outcomes.
The grant disperses 85% of the awarded funds by February 15, 2025, with the remaining 15% released upon submission of the final report. If the project is not initiated and the grantee fails to maintain communication, HDFFA reserves the right to reclaim initial funds. Applications will be evaluated based on project feasibility, alignment with program goals, and potential community impact.
