The Idaho Future Fund is a grantmaking initiative administered by the Idaho Community Foundation (ICF), designed to address critical gaps in educational programming across the state. Funded by an anonymous donor couple from Blaine County, this grant supports students from preschool through 12th grade by investing in programs that enhance education access, quality, and continuity—particularly in the face of financial shortfalls.

Grants are available to 501(c)(3) public charity nonprofits and public educational institutions operating within the state of Idaho. The funding is targeted to programs that serve students who would otherwise lack access to necessary educational resources and opportunities. The program’s four funding categories include: preschool access, charter schools, public schools and school libraries, and supplemental educational programs. Each category addresses specific challenges in the Idaho education system, from early childhood access to preventing summer learning loss.

Preschool Access funding helps expand access to pre-kindergarten education, particularly for children who cannot afford it or live in underserved areas. Charter School grants support schools that offer alternative educational models, especially those demonstrating improved outcomes for students with limited options. Public School and Library grants aim to reinstate or support essential programs lost to budget cuts. Supplemental Educational Programs funding focuses on support services that enhance student achievement beyond standard curricula, such as tutoring and out-of-school learning programs.

The typical grant range is between $10,000 and $20,000. No formal written report is required post-award. Instead, the ICF staff will conduct informal check-ins with grantees to better understand the grant’s impact.

The application deadline is March 1, with award notifications anticipated between May and June.
