Description
The 2024-2025 In Youth We Trust (IYWT) Youth Grant Program, administered by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois (CFNIL), provides funding to youth-led projects in Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago counties. The program aims to teach young people about grantmaking, volunteerism, and leadership while addressing community needs through charitable activities. IYWT has funded over $500,000 in projects since its founding in 1994. The program is managed by a council of high school students who evaluate applications and recommend projects for funding.
Eligible applicants must have a sponsoring 501(c)(3) nonprofit, religious organization, government entity, or public educational institution. The youth-led initiative should directly benefit local youth, with projects planned and implemented by individuals aged 19 or younger. Grants can fund events, projects with specific time frames, ongoing programs, or minor capital improvements, with a maximum award of $3,000. Applications are due by November 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., and funds will be available in January 2025.
The application process involves submitting a Word document form, including sections for organizational information, project details, and budget, to the IYWT Liaison via email. Selected applicants may be invited for interviews, and awards will be announced in January 2025, with a reception for grant recipients held in May 2025.
The program does not fund individual applicants, adult-driven projects, salaries for adults, or initiatives promoting religion. Funded projects are expected to address community issues, demonstrate collaboration, and produce measurable outcomes. Recipients must submit a final report detailing the project's results to maintain future eligibility.
