This grant provides funding for Baltimore-based organizations to transform vacant lots into safe, accessible green spaces using community engagement and crime prevention strategies.

Description

The *Activate Your Space* grant by BMORE Beautiful offers up to $5,000 for community-based projects transforming vacant lots in Baltimore into accessible green spaces. This grant emphasizes the use of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, which include natural access control, surveillance, territorial reinforcement, and stewardship, to help create safe community spaces. Eligibility is restricted to projects led by Baltimore-based 501(c)(3) organizations or those with a Baltimore-based fiscal sponsor. Projects must be on city or community-owned lots, excluding privately owned properties.

Key requirements include:
- Hosting at least one public event or activity during the grant period, running from January to October 2025.
- Participating in the Care-A-Lot maintenance program, requiring minimum mowing equipment for seasonal upkeep.
- Submission of a final report with expenditures, activity details, and before-and-after photos, alongside a mid-grant progress survey.

Applications are open until 5:00 PM on November 25, 2024, with assistance available from BMORE Beautiful during the application window. Applications must include detailed project descriptions, a comprehensive budget (including any outside funding), and supporting documents such as IRS tax status, an Adopt-A-Lot license, and current lot photos.
