Frederick H. Leonhardt Foundation Grants
This grant provides funding for non-profit organizations in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado to support measurable projects in the arts, education, animal and human welfare, and environmental initiatives.
Description
The FHL Foundation annually considers proposals in four specific focus areas aligned with the seasons: Arts & Humanities (Fall), Education (Winter), Animal & Human Welfare (Spring), and the Environment (Summer), targeting projects within Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. The foundation emphasizes funding trackable projects, where outcomes can be quantified, such as the number of books delivered, public lectures held, or wildlife tagged. This approach allows for clear accountability of how grant funds are utilized. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $20,000. To initiate the application process, organizations must email the foundation to discuss their project's alignment with the foundation's goals. Following a preliminary fit assessment, eligible organizations, specifically non-profit 501(c)(3) entities, may be invited to submit a detailed proposal via the Grant360 database program. The foundation has set forth clear guidelines excluding grants to individuals, organizations under umbrella groups, those with pending 501(c)(3) status, international bodies, and entities lacking proper licensure for therapeutic services.
