Camber Foundation

This grant provides $1 million to nonprofit organizations in Eastern North Carolina focused on improving health, education, and economic development, with a special emphasis on programs benefiting youth.

Description

The Camber Foundation has announced a $1 million grant program to support nonprofit organizations in Eastern North Carolina. This initiative aims to fund organizations engaged in health and wellness, education, and economic development. Specifically, the foundation prioritizes projects and programs that focus on access to healthcare, mental health services, postsecondary education attainment, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion. Organizations serving all age groups are eligible, with a particular preference given to programs benefiting youth.

Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or organizations operating under an eligible fiscal sponsor with the same designation. To qualify, organizations must either be headquartered in Eastern North Carolina or have a physical presence in the region through an office or staff working in one of the designated 41 counties. The grant program does not support government entities, churches, schools, political campaigns, capital campaigns, re-granting programs, or organizations that fundraise on behalf of ineligible entities.

The grant terms include awards ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 per grantee, with funding available for general operations or specific projects. The grant period is one year, and recipients must sign an agreement detailing terms and conditions before receiving funds. Grantees must also submit a report at the end of the grant term outlining the outcomes of their funded work.

Applications open on January 31, 2025, and the submission deadline is February 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Interested organizations must submit their proposals online through the Camber Foundation’s application portal. The application process requires organizations to create a profile, enter the access code Camber2025, and complete an online form detailing their proposal and how it aligns with Camber’s funding priorities. Only one application per organization is allowed per grant cycle, and prior grantees must complete reporting requirements for previous grants before applying again.

The application evaluation criteria focus on the alignment of the proposed work with Camber’s funding priorities, measurable outcomes, and community impact. The foundation encourages proposals that clearly define the need being addressed, the methods of engagement, and the expected benefits to the target population. Organizations must demonstrate their capacity to execute the proposed work effectively.
