Alaska Community Foundation announces Strengthening Organizations Program
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Alaska for projects that strengthen their internal operations and improve their effectiveness through capacity-building initiatives.
Description
The Strengthening Organizations grant program supports nonprofit capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the internal operations and effectiveness of organizations. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for projects that improve organizational systems, train staff, or develop leadership. The eligible project categories include board training, leadership recruitment and coaching, staff and volunteer development, strategic planning, fundraising planning, financial management, and technology training.
The application windows for this grant program are from October 1 to November 15, 2024, and January 15 to February 28, 2025. Projects proposed during the fall period must start no earlier than January 1, 2025, and conclude by December 31, 2025. Spring projects can begin no earlier than May 1, 2025, and must be completed by April 30, 2026.
Ineligible expenses include travel for conferences, grant writing contracts, and annual membership fees. Proposals will be assessed on their organizational impact, feasibility, alignment with the organization’s size and capacity, and overall value. Funded by the Rasmuson Foundation, the program complements the Foundation's Tier I Program, prohibiting organizations from seeking funding for the same project through both programs.
