RFA R-25.2 TREC: CFSA Core Facility Support Awards
This funding opportunity provides up to $2 million to Texas institutions for establishing or upgrading core facilities that enhance cancer research capacity, particularly benefiting multiple organizations and focusing on underserved regions.
Description
The TREC: Core Facility Support Award (CFSA) by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) funds core facilities at TREC-eligible institutions to enhance cancer research capacity in regions historically underfunded in this area. This award provides up to $2 million over five years for establishing or upgrading facilities that support cancer research, with a special focus on benefiting multiple institutions within Texas. Eligible applicants can apply until December 10, 2024, and awards are expected to commence on June 1, 2025.
Projects may include developing new core facilities or enhancing existing ones, covering equipment purchases, installation, staff salaries, and other operational costs directly supporting cancer research. A user group of Texas-based researchers must be identified to justify the facility’s impact. Applications must detail a cost-recovery plan, institutional support, and a sustainability strategy for after the award period.
Eligible institutions may submit one application per funding cycle, with an allowance for an additional application specifically focused on childhood/adolescent cancer or population science. Evaluation criteria prioritize the facility’s relevance to CPRIT’s cancer research goals, the potential to serve multiple institutions, and institutional commitment to the facility’s success and longevity.
