Details:
The purpose of the Environmental Justice (EJ) Grant Program is to fund projects that avoid, minimize, measure, or mitigate impacts to public health and the environment in disproportionately impacted (DI) communities, or that promote equitable participation in rulemaking that may affect DI communities.
The grant program will fund projects that measure, prevent, or reduce pollution to protect public health or restore the environment. Projects can focus on any of the following topics:
Air quality.
Water quantity and quality.
Waste.
Land use.
Built environment.
Climate.
Noise.
Chemicals.
Pesticides.
Natural assets, such as wetlands, tree planting, and native plants.
Soil quality.
Historical industrial contamination.
Grants can also fund projects that help community members participate in public engagement opportunities when CDPHE makes new rules about protecting the environment.
Funding Information
The EJAB anticipates providing approximately $3,000,000 in total funding available for Cycle 3 of the EJ Grant Program. The funding period for projects is July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027 (2 fiscal years). Competitive awards will be available in tiers:
Tier 1 – $50,000 – 249,999.
Tier 2 – $250,000 – 500,000.

Federally recognized Tribal governments.
Universities.
Other educational institutions.
For-profit corporations.
