This program provides funding to nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies that address community needs in areas such as education, health, and the arts.

Description

The Women’s Fund Grants Program, administered by the Community Foundation Alliance, provides annual funding to nonprofit organizations serving the community. The program operates on a yearly grant cycle, with applications accepted from January through March. The grant aims to support charitable projects and community needs by funding initiatives that align with its designated focus areas. In 2024, the program awarded a total of $25,000 in grants to 16 nonprofit organizations. The funding requirements may change each year, so applicants are encouraged to review the latest guidelines before submitting their proposals.

The purpose of the Women’s Fund Grants Program is to support nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies that address key community needs. The program prioritizes funding initiatives in various sectors, including arts and culture, community development, education, health, human services, and other civic endeavors such as environmental projects, recreation, and youth development. Projects must demonstrate a clear benefit to the community and align with the mission of the Women’s Fund.

Funding is restricted to specific types of projects and initiatives. Grants will not be awarded to religious organizations for religious purposes, political parties or campaigns, endowment creation, debt reduction, general operating costs unrelated to a program, capital campaigns, annual membership contributions, or travel-related requests for groups and individuals. Additionally, organizations without a 501(c)(3) status must obtain a fiscal sponsor to be considered for funding. Fiscal sponsors must submit a signed letter confirming their agreement to oversee the grant funds and project execution.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations classified as tax-exempt under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code, as well as governmental agencies. Organizations without 501(c)(3) status may still be considered if their project is charitable and serves a community need, provided they secure a fiscal sponsor. All applicants must demonstrate alignment with the program's focus areas and provide necessary documentation to support their request.

Applications must be submitted electronically before the deadline of March 3, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered. Required supporting documents include the organization’s current board roster with professional affiliations, its annual operating budget, the most recent financial statement, and a fiscal sponsor agreement letter if applicable. Awarded applicants may be required to submit a final report detailing project completion and fund utilization.

The selection process includes a review of funding requests by the Women’s Fund Steering Committee. Applicants may be contacted for interviews or site visits as part of the evaluation process. After the review, the committee will make funding recommendations to the Community Foundation Alliance Board of Directors for final approval. Direct lobbying or solicitation of committee or board members is not allowed.
