This program provides funding to neighborhood organizations in Richland County for projects that improve community life and engage residents, without requiring a match or volunteer hours.
Description
The FY25-26 Neighborhood Enrichment Grant Program (NEGP), administered by Richland County’s Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP), provides funding for neighborhood-based organizations to support leadership development, community improvement, and enrichment projects. Unlike previous matching grant programs, NEGP does not require a match or volunteer hours. Projects funded through this program aim to enhance the quality of life for residents within the applicant's neighborhood.
Eligible applicants include neighborhood-based organizations in Richland County, such as neighborhood associations, homeowners associations, and similar groups. Projects must demonstrate neighborhood-wide impact, involve residents in all phases, and align with federal, state, and local codes. Funding is provided in two tiers: up to $2,500 annually for organizations in low- to moderate-income areas and up to $1,500 annually for organizations outside such areas. The program emphasizes partnerships with local businesses and nonprofits to maximize impact.
Applications for FY25-26 funding open on December 2, 2024, and close on February 2, 2025. Grant awards will be announced by July 15, 2025. Projects must be completed by June 30, 2026, with required reporting to document the use of funds and project outcomes. Eligible projects include neighborhood beautification, safety and health initiatives, community engagement, and leisure activities, while expenses such as major infrastructure improvements, operating costs, and fundraising activities are ineligible.
