This program provides financial support to Oregon-based companies that have received federal SBIR/STTR grants, helping them cover costs related to commercialization activities such as marketing, hiring, and intellectual property protection.

Description

The SBIR/STTR Matching Grant Program is designed to help companies that have received federal SBIR/STTR grants to advance their technologies and move toward commercialization. It addresses gaps in funding that are not covered by federal SBIR/STTR funds, such as business plan development, marketing, and intellectual property protection.

Grant Details:
Phase I Match: Up to $50,000 for companies that have received a Phase I SBIR/STTR award.
Phase II or Fast-track Match: Up to $100,000 for companies that have received a Phase II or Fast-track award.
Grants are intended to complement federal funding and support commercialization activities that were not covered under the federal award.
Eligibility Requirements:
Traded-sector businesses that sell goods or services in markets with national or international competition.
Oregon-based businesses, with more than 50% of employees located in Oregon.
Applicants must be the recipient of a federal SBIR/STTR grant dated no earlier than January 1, 2023.
Must meet federal SBIR/STTR eligibility guidelines, including having fewer than 500 employees, being for-profit, and being at least 51% owned by U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Eligible Expenses:
Grants can be used for:

Expansion of facilities
Specialty testing or production equipment
Hiring additional employees for commercialization or production
Business development expertise
Intellectual property protection
Marketing and customer engagement
Ineligible Uses:
General business operating expenses and non-commercial research costs are not eligible. Up to 15% of the total grant budget can be allocated for indirect costs related to general business operations.

Application Submission:
To apply, the following must be submitted:

Signed SBIR/STTR Matching Grant Application Form.
Project Narrative (maximum 8 pages).
Milestones Document.
Matching Grant Budget (Attachment A).
Key personnel biographical sketches.
Copy of the federal SBIR/STTR award notification and the approved proposal or funding agreement.
Deadline and Submission:
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, October 21, 2024.
