2025 UWSN Community Impact Grants
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations in Southern Nevada that provide programs focused on improving educational success, workforce readiness, and essential community services for families in need.
Description
United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is inviting proposals for its 2025 Community Impact Grants, aimed at supporting programs that enhance lives in the areas of Student Success, Workforce Development, and Community Support. The grant seeks to provide funding for nonprofit organizations that align with these three priority areas and demonstrate measurable impact. Applications must be submitted by February 14, 2025, at 5:00 PM Pacific Time, and the grant period runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Each applicant is allowed to submit only one proposal per funding cycle.
The purpose of the UWSN Community Impact Grants is to strengthen the Southern Nevada community by investing in programs that promote educational achievement, workforce readiness, and social support systems. The funding is designed to help children succeed in school, assist adults in securing stable employment, and provide critical resources to families in need. Programs funded through these grants should demonstrate a clear alignment with UWSN’s objectives and be capable of producing measurable improvements in educational attainment, employment rates, and economic stability.
Eligible applicants must provide services within Southern Nevada, specifically in Clark, Nye, Esmeralda, and Lincoln counties. They must be a nonprofit organization, public charity, or supporting organization with an IRS designation of 501(c)(3), 509(a)(1), 509(a)(2), or 509(a)(3). Applicants must also be licensed and in good standing with the State of Nevada. Proposals must include financial statements, which do not need to be audited but should be provided if available from the past three years.
The application process follows a structured timeline, beginning with the announcement of the funding opportunity on January 13, 2025. Proposals must be submitted by February 14, 2025, and will then be reviewed by the UWSN Funding Review Committee in March and April. This committee, comprising community volunteers, will evaluate applications using a standardized rubric. Their recommendations will be submitted to the UWSN Board of Directors, which will make the final funding decisions in May 2025. Notifications to applicants regarding their funding status will be issued in June 2025.
Programs funded through this grant must align with at least one of the three priority areas. Student Success programs should focus on early childhood education, academic support, and career preparation. Workforce Development initiatives should aim to increase job readiness, work experience, and employment opportunities for adults. Community Support programs should provide essential services such as housing assistance, transportation support, and digital connectivity to help individuals and families achieve financial stability.
Organizations receiving funding will be required to submit quarterly reports detailing program progress, financial expenditures, and participant outcomes. Additionally, grantees must actively engage with UWSN’s marketing and volunteer initiatives, recognize UWSN funding in their promotional materials, and participate in fundraising campaigns and community engagement events. Compliance with these requirements is essential for continued funding distribution throughout the grant period.
