This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that focus on the humane treatment of animals, including adoption efforts and preventing cruelty, particularly in underserved communities.

Description

Grant Opportunity: Animal Welfare

The Foundation supports organizations that promote the ethical and humane treatment of animals, with a focus on adoption for animals in need of a forever home, preventing animal cruelty, and maintaining Dallas' designation as a no-kill city. Eligible organizations must be qualified public entities or organizations exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation does not support private foundations, commercial businesses, or individuals.

Grant Types: The Foundation funds general operating expenses, specific programs or projects, and capital requests. However, it does not make grants for fundraising events, scholarships, professional conferences, symposiums, performances, competition expenses, or endowments.

Geographic Focus: The Foundation primarily makes grants to organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and adjoining counties. Most grants go to agencies working in underserved communities in North Texas. International grants are made by invitation only.

Application Process: All letters of inquiry and grant requests must be submitted online through the Foundation's grantee portal. A letter of inquiry is not required but can be submitted if there is uncertainty about a grant request being a match for the Foundation. New organizations may submit a letter of inquiry with the most current information available.

Financial Guidelines: The Foundation typically funds up to 25% of a project's budget or up to 10% of an organization's total annual operating budget.

Deadlines: Grant applications are accepted throughout the year. It is recommended to submit an application at least four months before funding is needed. Organizations awarded a grant must submit a final report before being eligible to submit a new grant application.

Reporting Requirements: Organizations funded by the Foundation must provide a full report on previous grant expenditures and outcomes as stated in the grant contract. Grant goals vary by organization and will be specified in the contract.
