The Field Foundation Fellowship is a prestigious opportunity for graduate students in Chicago to gain hands-on experience in philanthropy, grantmaking, and community power-building. Fellows will work closely with Field Foundation program directors and staff, gaining practical experience in reviewing grant proposals, analyzing budgets, assessing program outcomes, and identifying indicators of success. They will also support staff in conducting site visits and meetings with both grantees and potential grantees. A key component of the fellowship includes writing briefs and assisting in the preparation of grant recommendations for review by the Field Foundation Board of Directors.

Additionally, fellows will be involved in supporting the Leaders for a New Chicago Award process, which recognizes individuals who are making significant contributions to Chicago’s civic and cultural landscape. They will also have the opportunity to engage with strategic funding partners, nonprofit leaders, and other philanthropic organizations through meetings, conferences, and other networking events.
