2024 Houston Artadia Awards for Visual Artists in Texas
This grant provides financial support to contemporary visual artists in Texas who are actively creating work for display in museums, galleries, and public art spaces.
Description
The Artadia Awards provide financial support to contemporary visual artists whose work is intended for presentation in venues such as museums, galleries, arts nonprofits, or public art spaces. To be eligible for the award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a contemporary visual artist actively creating work for display in a contemporary art context. Filmmakers focused on cinematic distribution and choreographers presenting outside contemporary art venues are not eligible.
Reside and work within the eligible counties of the award city and have lived there for at least two years prior to the application deadline.
Not be enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, an art-related degree program.
Not be related to Artadia staff or directors.
Have not previously received an award of $10,000 or more from Artadia or its predecessor, The Art Council, although former finalists may reapply.
If currently in a long-term artist residency, applicants must apply from the city where they permanently reside and be available for a 45-minute virtual studio visit if selected as a finalist.
Artists applying must be the sole conceptual author of the artwork submitted, unless applying as part of a collaboration. In such cases, all collaborators sharing authorship must be clearly identified.
Applications are submitted through the Submittable platform, and guidelines are provided for the inclusion of media files and detailed descriptions of the work.
