2024 Community Centers Grant Program
This funding opportunity supports community centers in Erie County by providing financial assistance for capital improvements and programming that enhance social, educational, and recreational services for residents.
Description
The 2024 Community Centers Grant Program, funded by the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA), aims to support capital improvements and programming that enhance the quality of life in Erie County. The grants focus on projects that provide social, educational, cultural, health, recreational, and economic benefits to residents. Community centers, considered as neighborhood hubs, play a critical role in serving various groups, including children and seniors, and contribute to the county’s social and economic fabric.
Eligible applicants for the grant include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, municipal authorities, and municipalities located within Erie County. The applicant must be in good standing with the IRS, local taxing bodies, and ECGRA’s reporting requirements. Additionally, the applicant must own or lease the property where the project will be implemented. Only one application per organization is allowed, and pass-through grants are not permissible.
The program offers up to $15,000 per grant, with a total of $150,000 available for the 2024 funding cycle. Eligible uses of funds include facility-related expenses, equipment, marketing, and contracted services. However, funding cannot be used for personnel costs, debt service, food, awards, or memberships. A 1-to-1 cash match is required, and applicants must provide a detailed budget outlining the funding sources.
Applications must be submitted online by November 15, 2024, and will be reviewed by ECGRA staff and the board of directors. Grant recipients must sign an agreement and comply with reporting requirements, including submitting a closeout report within 12 months. The program aims to bolster community centers that address residents’ needs and foster local development across Erie County.
