The Rees-Jones Foundation: Child Substitute Care
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations that help children in foster care, especially those who have experienced abuse or neglect, by enhancing community care and therapeutic services in Texas.
Description
Grant Opportunity: Foundation for Children and Youth Support
The Foundation for Children and Youth Support is seeking grant applications from qualified public entities or organizations exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The foundation focuses on supporting organizations that address the needs of children in substitute care, particularly those who have been abused or neglected. They prioritize building community capacity to care for these youth and providing therapeutic placements and services. Additionally, the foundation supports innovations that improve the foster care system in Texas, such as Community-Based Care.
Grant requests can be submitted throughout the year, but it is recommended to submit at least four months before funding is needed. The foundation typically funds up to 25% of a project's budget or 10% of an organization's total annual operating budget. They fund general operating expenses, specific programs or projects, and capital requests. However, they do not fund fundraising events, scholarships, professional conferences, symposiums, performances, competition expenses, or endowments.
To apply for a grant or submit a letter of inquiry, organizations must create an account through the foundation's online portal. The portal also provides a help guide with instructions on creating an account, submitting applications and reports, and troubleshooting. Preliminary meetings are discouraged due to time constraints; instead, applications or letters of inquiry are reviewed by the staff. If a meeting or site visit is deemed necessary, the organization will be contacted.
If a grant request is approved by the foundation's board, a grant award letter and contract will be sent to be signed and returned before payment can be made. Organizations funded by the foundation must provide a full report on previous grant expenditures and outcomes as stated in the grant contract.
